The intelligent Energy Sector Manager of Business West, Andy Bates, is inviting Initiative members to the Severn Edge STEP reception at the House of Lords on behalf of Western Gateway.
What is the reception about?
Baroness Wilcox of Newport kindly sponsors the reception.
The event will provide the opportunity to gather information about STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production), and the ambition to design and construct the UK’s first prototype fusion energy plant by 2040.
A competitive bidding process to host this exciting and transformative opportunity is currently underway. Fusion energy will provide virtually limitless clean, green, safe, and affordable energy to meet the world’s energy demands.
Parliamentarians, business groups, academics, and educational institutions will attend the reception, to explore the enormous potential of a fusion in Western England and South Wales.
The 22nd of February will be a great time to learn more about this transformational opportunity for the region.

On Tuesday 22 February from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, a reception will be available to attend at the Houses of Parliament in the Cholmondeley Room and Terrace (House of Lords).
